⚡ I2 Energy on the Move

The Great Energy Race is coming to town. Every vehicle must carry its energy with it. Engineers are needed to win!

Inventors, Intermediate. Engineer Stamp: Energy Engineer.

Lessons

  1. Faster means more energy: A faster car has more energy. How could we prove it?
  2. Spin it up: the flywheel car: Where does the energy hide when the wheels stop touching the floor?
  3. Crash test: energy transfer: When cars collide, where does the energy go?
  4. Battery to motion: Batteries store energy too. How does it get from the battery to the wheels?
  5. Design Day: Two-metre cruiser: The Energy Race route is exactly 2 metres. Too short or too long and you are out!
  6. Showcase: The Great Energy Race: Three runs each. Scores for distance and accuracy go on the big board.

Design challenge

Build a vehicle that travels at least 2 metres using only stored energy, and stops within 20 cm of a target.
