✈️ Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet (United States): step-by-step build
The Queen of the Skies: a Technic-beam jumbo jet with its famous hump, four engines and a tall tail.
Here comes the jumbo! The Boeing 747 was the first giant wide-body airliner, and everyone knows it by the hump on top where the upper deck is. This is a Technic-parts model inspired by it, not a real aeroplane: four white engines hang under swept-back wings, each held by two L-beam pylons, and the nose wheel and main wheels roll when you push it.
- Level 3 of 5 (medium)
- About 45 minutes
- 29 steps, 86 parts
- Powered by: Push
- Series: Aircraft from 21 Countries
What you will learn
- Pins: Grippy or Smooth: Pins join beams together — some hold tight, some let things swing.
- Triangles Are Strong: A triangle cannot be squished — a square can.
- Axles & Wheels: A wheel on an axle turns dragging into rolling.

Steps
- Lay the floor of the fuselage: take a blue 15-hole beam, then push 2 blue long pins in and press a blue 11-hole beam onto them.
- Lay the floor of the fuselage: push 2 blue long pins in and press a blue 3×5 L-beam (short leg down: the nose-wheel leg) onto them.
- Add the roots of the wings and tailplanes: push 1 blue long pin in and press a blue 3×5 L-beam (short leg up) onto them.
- Add the roots of the wings and tailplanes: push 2 blue long pins in and press a blue 3×5 L-beam (short leg up) onto them.
- Add the roots of the wings and tailplanes: push 2 blue long pins in and press a light grey 3×5 L-beam (short leg down: a landing-gear leg) onto them.
- Add the roots of the wings and tailplanes: push 2 blue long pins in and press a light grey 3×5 L-beam (short leg down: a landing-gear leg) onto them, then slide a white 3×5 L-beam (short leg up beside the hump) onto the blue pins that stick out.
- Add the roots of the wings and tailplanes: push 1 black pin and 1 blue long pin in and press a white 3×5 L-beam (short leg up beside the hump) onto them.
- Build the upper deck and the famous hump: push 2 black pins in and press a white 13-hole beam onto them.
- Build the upper deck and the famous hump: push 2 black pins in and press a blue boomerang beam (its bent end leans back: the tail fin) onto them.
- Build the upper deck and the famous hump: push 2 black pins in and press a white 2×4 L-beam (short leg up) onto them.
- Build the upper deck and the famous hump: push 2 black pins in and press a white 2×4 L-beam (short leg up) onto them.
- Build the upper deck and the famous hump: push 2 black pins in and press a white 5-hole beam (the top of the hump) onto them.
- Build the upper deck and the famous hump: push 2 black pins in and press a blue 5-hole beam leaning back along the tall fin onto them.
- Build the tailplanes: push 2 black pins in and press a light grey 5-hole beam onto them.
- Build the tailplanes: push 1 black pin in and press a light grey 5-hole beam onto them.
- Build the right wing and hang its engines: slide a light grey 5-hole beam onto the blue pins that stick out, then push 1 black pin in and press a light grey 2×4 L-beam (short leg down: an engine pylon) onto them.
- Build the right wing and hang its engines: push 1 black pin and 1 blue long pin in and press a light grey 7-hole beam onto them.
- Build the right wing and hang its engines: push 1 black pin in and press a white 3-hole beam (an engine) onto it.
- Build the right wing and hang its engines: push 2 blue long pins in and press a light grey 2×4 L-beam (short leg down: an engine pylon) onto them.
- Build the right wing and hang its engines: push 1 blue long pin in and press a light grey 3-hole beam onto them, then slide a light grey 5-hole beam onto the blue pins that stick out, then slide a white 3-hole beam (an engine) onto the blue pins that stick out.
- Build the right wing and hang its engines: push 2 black pins in and press a light grey 2×4 L-beam (short leg down: an engine pylon) onto them.
- Build the left wing and hang its engines: slide a light grey 5-hole beam onto the blue pins that stick out, then slide a light grey 2×4 L-beam (short leg down: an engine pylon) onto the blue pins that stick out.
- Build the left wing and hang its engines: push 1 black pin and 1 blue long pin in and press a light grey 7-hole beam onto them.
- Build the left wing and hang its engines: push 1 black pin in and press a white 3-hole beam (an engine) onto it.
- Build the left wing and hang its engines: push 2 blue long pins in and press a light grey 2×4 L-beam (short leg down: an engine pylon) onto them.
- Build the left wing and hang its engines: push 1 blue long pin in and press a light grey 3-hole beam onto them, then slide a light grey 5-hole beam onto the blue pins that stick out, then slide a white 3-hole beam (an engine) onto the blue pins that stick out.
- Build the left wing and hang its engines: push 2 black pins in and press a light grey 2×4 L-beam (short leg down: an engine pylon) onto them.
- Put on the wheels: push a 6-long axle through both legs and put a wheel on each end.
- Put on the wheels: push a 3-long axle through the leg, with a wheel on one side and a bush on the other.
Play time
Taxi the jumbo to the runway, then count its four engines and find the hump!
