✈️ An-225 Mriya (Ukraine): step-by-step build

The giant Ukrainian cargo plane with six engines, a high wing and two tail fins.

The Antonov An-225 Mriya ("dream") was built in Ukraine and was the heaviest aeroplane ever made, able to carry a whole space shuttle on its back. The only one was destroyed in 2022. This is a Technic-parts model inspired by it, not a real aeroplane: its wing sits high on top, grey slices poke forward like its six engines, two fins stand on the tail, and the wheels roll when you push it. Blue and yellow beams borrow the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

Steps

  1. Lay the floor of the giant fuselage: take a white 15-hole beam, then push 2 black pins in and press a blue 11-hole beam (the belly stripe) onto them.
  2. Lay the floor of the giant fuselage: push 2 blue long pins in and press a white 3×5 L-beam (short leg down: the nose-wheel leg) onto them.
  3. Add the roots of the tail and the landing-gear legs: push 1 black pin and 1 blue long pin in and press a white 2×4 L-beam (short leg up) onto them.
  4. Add the roots of the tail and the landing-gear legs: push 1 black pin and 1 blue long pin in and press a white 2×4 L-beam (short leg up) onto them.
  5. Add the roots of the tail and the landing-gear legs: push 2 black pins in and press a light grey 3×5 L-beam (short leg down: a landing-gear leg) onto them.
  6. Add the roots of the tail and the landing-gear legs: push 2 black pins in and press a light grey 3×5 L-beam (short leg down: a landing-gear leg) onto them, then slide a white 2×4 L-beam (short leg up) onto the blue pins that stick out.
  7. Add the roots of the tail and the landing-gear legs: push 2 black pins in and press a white 2×4 L-beam (short leg up) onto them.
  8. Build the top of the fuselage: push 2 black pins in and press a white 13-hole beam onto them.
  9. Build the top of the fuselage: push 1 black pin and 1 blue long pin in and press a white 9-hole beam onto them.
  10. Build the top of the fuselage: push 1 black pin and 1 blue long pin in and press a yellow 5-hole beam (the cockpit stripe) onto them.
  11. Fix the wing roots on top of the fuselage: slide a white 9-hole beam onto the blue pins that stick out, then push 2 blue long pins in and press a white 9-hole beam onto them.
  12. Build the tailplanes and stand up the two tail fins: push 1 blue long pin in and press a white 5-hole beam onto them, then push 1 blue long pin in and press a white 5-hole beam onto them.
  13. Build the tailplanes and stand up the two tail fins: push 1 black pin in and press a blue 3×5 L-beam (short leg up: a tail fin) onto them, then push 1 black pin in and press a blue 3×5 L-beam (short leg up: a tail fin) onto them.
  14. Build the wings with their six engines: push 1 black pin and 1 blue long pin in and press a white 9-hole beam onto them, then slide a white 9-hole beam onto the blue pins that stick out.
  15. Build the wings with their six engines: push 1 blue long pin in and press a light grey 9-hole beam onto them.
  16. Build the wings with their six engines: push 2 blue long pins in and press a light grey 9-hole beam onto them.
  17. Build the wings with their six engines: push 1 blue long pin in and press a white 7-hole beam onto them, then slide a white 7-hole beam onto the blue pins that stick out.
  18. Build the wings with their six engines: push 1 blue long pin in and press a light grey 7-hole beam onto them.
  19. Build the wings with their six engines: push 2 blue long pins in and press a light grey 7-hole beam onto them.
  20. Build the wings with their six engines: push 1 blue long pin in and press a white 5-hole beam onto them, then slide a white 5-hole beam onto the blue pins that stick out.
  21. Build the wings with their six engines: push 1 black pin in and press a light grey 5-hole beam onto them.
  22. Build the wings with their six engines: push 2 black pins in and press a light grey 5-hole beam onto them.
  23. Put on the wheels: push a 6-long axle through both legs and put a wheel on each end.
  24. Put on the wheels: push a 3-long axle through the leg, with a wheel on one side and a bush on the other.
